Dean Campbell signs!!!

23 June 2023

We’re delighted to announce the signing of Dean Campbell following the end of his contract with Aberdeen on July 1st.

The exciting box-to-box midfielder has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at SO Legal Stadium following five years with Aberdeen’s first team.

Campbell was extremely happy to get the deal done with the 22-year-old setting his sights high for his new team this season.

He said: “I’m delighted obviously when a player is out of contract there’s that uncertainty and I’m happy to get it in as early as possible and be ready to be in with the lads for the first day of preseason.

“It’s been a few weeks in the making and I spoke to the manager and he emphasised how badly he wanted me at the club and sold it well and told me the things I want to hear in terms of the way I like to play and how he feels I’ll fit into the team so it was a pretty easy decision in the end and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

Campbell felt Barrow was the perfect destination for him with the club’s ambitions playing a major role in his decision to link up with Pete Wild’s side.

He added: “Personally, I wanted to come here because it’s a team with ambition, but it’s also a manager who wants to improve players along the way as well which aligns with my goals for the season as I really want to be a part of a successful team.

“From speaking to the manager, he says he wants to go even further than last year and the aim is promotion. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of a couple of promotions teams already at a young age so I feel like even though I’m young I can help with my experience of that and hopefully with the team we are putting together it’s something we can achieve.”

Campbell notably scored the winner for Stevenage at Villa Park in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup last season and is keen on bringing some magic of the Cup to the Bluebirds.

“I’d love to do so obviously it was a dream come true for me last year and it was a brilliant memory for me so I’m looking forward to hopefully being a part of another successful cup run this year,” said Campbell.

Welcome to Barrow Dean!!!
