We are delighted to announce the signing of exciting defensive prospect Junior Tiensia!
The energetic, attack minded left back joins the Bluebirds on an initial one year deal subject to EFL approval.
The 22 year old started his career at Millwall and was a highly rated prospect at the Den, learning his trade in senior football with loan spells at Havant & Waterlooville, Dover and Dartford.
After his release by the London based side, Tiensia joined National League North Club Gloucester City and he was instrumental in their succesful season, leaving them in 8th place upon his departure to Solihull Moors on a short term contract in March.
Junior featured seven times for Solihull during his stint in the Midlands, before putting pen to paper with the Bluebirds ahead of the 2023/24 season.
After signing his contract with the club, Tiensia spoke of his delight to be joining us:
"I'm really happy to be at Barrow and to get the deal done, I've spoken to the Gaffer a few times and things haven't lined up, so it was a no brainer to join Barrow.
Like I said, I've known of his interest before and I've played against his Halifax teams and I've been really impressed with the style of football he plays.
I went over to train with the boys for a week before I joined Solihull and the type of football, the training sessions, were all really good. That really enticed me into wanting to sign so I just wanted to get this done.
I've seen the way the team plays, I've heard about the clubs plans and they've told me that I fit into their plans and I certainly think I fit into theirs. I'm a hard working player, I dedicate myself to a task and I try my best to achieve it - I know this club has alot they want to achieve and it's just the right fit for me."
The Gaffer was equally as excited by Junior putting pen to paper at the SO Legal Stadium:
"I'm really excited by the signing of Junior, he is someone I've kept tabs on for a while and to finally get him in the building is brilliant.
He came in and joined us for a week earlier in the year and impressed, but we couldn't get a deal done at the time. We kept in touch and made it clear that we wanted him and that hard work has paid off now as he signs with us.
He is an exciting, attacking minded player and is a great lad who really fits into what we are wanting to do both on and off the pitch."
