We’re back at home tomorrow night as we host Blackpool in our first EFL Trophy game of the season.
We come into the game fresh off the back of an impressive away victory at Harrogate Town on Saturday thanks to another stunning strike from Kian Spence. Although, Paul Farman was needed to make a crucial penalty stop in the 61st minute to preserve all three points.
That victory brings us up to fourth place in the Sky Bet League Two table after six games, with Pete Wild’s men recording three victories, two draws, and just one loss.
Team news
We're without Mazeed Ogungbo and Ben Whitfield tomorrow night.
Mazeed is making good progress on his injury and is back training on the grass, whilst Ben despite having a minor injury setback continues his road to recovery.
The opposition
We’ve obviously already faced Neil Critchley’s side this season as we were defeated 5-0 at the SO Legal Stadium in pre-season.
On the League front, it hasn’t been the best start to life back in England’s third tier for the Tangerines who sit 12th in League One.
However, their place in the league might be a little deceiving as they’ve only lost on one occasion and have recorded four clean sheets along the way.
Head-to-head
We’ve only faced the Tangerines twice since our return to the Football League with both occasions taking place in the cup competitions.
The first of those meetings took place in the 2020/2021 season in the EFL Trophy, when after a 0-0 draw we lost on penalty kicks.
Two seasons later we faced Blackpool again in the League Cup and this time after a 0-0 draw in regular time we were victorious on penalties.
Referees
The man in charge tomorrow is Matt Corlett, who is accompanied by Simon Clayton and Connor Brown, while Micheal Crusham is the fourth official.
