After a month without a home league game, we’re finally back at the SO Legal Stadium as we host Doncaster Rovers later this afternoon.
It’s safe to say the fixture scheduling at the start of the season hasn’t been the kindest to Barrow AFC and its supporters after we’ve already played away from home six times in our opening eight games.
The Bluebirds have most recently played their last three consecutive games away from home, picking up a win against Harrogate Town, a draw against Newport County, and a loss at Mansfield Town.
Wild’s men will now be looking to preserve their unbeaten steak at Holker Street having picked up a 2-1 win against Sutton United and a 1-1 draw against Wrexham.
Team news
Pete Wild has a massive squad to pick from as all long-term absentees have returned to full training.
However, Junior Tiensia will be out for the next three games having picked up a straight red card during our loss to Mansfield last week.
The opposition
Doncaster certainly hasn’t had the start to the season many would have predicted, having not won a single game in their opening seven league matches.
However, in the last two weeks, the club seemed to have turned a corner and has picked up three points against Forest Green and high-flyers Gillingham.
They now currently sit 19th in the league and will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce to rectify their poor start to the season.
Head-to-head
We’ve only played Rovers twice since our return to the EFL with both games taking place last season. We lost the first meeting 1-0 away from home, while we won 2-0 at the SO Legal Stadium thanks to goals from Ben Whitfield and Tyrell Warren.
Referee
The man in charge today is Scott Oldham who Ivan Stankovic and Alan Clayton will join, whilst David McNamara is the fourth official.
