Burton Albion Striker Cole Stockton has agreed to join Barrow AFC on loan until the 30th of June 2024.
The 29-year-old originally joined the Staffordshire-based side in the summer following a very prolific spell at Morecambe in League One, where he notched 38 goals in the last two seasons.
After his deal expired with the Shrimps in the summer of 2023, he linked up with Burton but since joining the Brewers Stockton has struggled for regular game time leading him to look elsewhere this window.
Speaking about the move, Stockton said: “I’m excited to get going now, it’s been a long but felt like a quick process to get everything sorted and it was a no-brainer for me to get back playing and get back enjoying [my football].”
Speaking about why he joined the Bluebirds, the 29-year-old added: “It’s just everything I’ve heard about the club and the direction it’s going in now, and everyone to do with the club has worked incredibly hard to get the club to where it is now and I’m looking forward to being a part of that and helping push the club forward.”
Our Sporting Director, Iain Wood added: “It’s an excellent signing. He’s experienced, he wants to come here to get back playing again, to enjoy his football and score goals. He’s a proven goal scorer at this level and above, and location-wise as well it just all fits us.”
Wood added: “I think it shows how far the club has come because Barrow couldn’t have been linked with someone like Cole back in the day as it would have been completely unachievable. Signing a player like Cole Stockton who striker-wise could be in his prime is great as strikers aren’t easy to come by. We’re signing someone and have already signed someone that has a similar record in Dom Telford, and having a Cole and Dom come to Barrow is no small feat really.”
Welcome to Barrow Cole.
