Katia Kouyate signs for Barrow

5 June 2024

We’re delighted to announce the signing of versatile young forward, Katia Kouyate on a three-year deal following the expiration of his contract with Everton, subject to approval.

Kouyate has become the first signing of the Stephen Clemence era at The SO Legal Stadium having put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Barrow after the Bluebirds fought off some fierce competition from other clubs.

The 20-year-old signed for The Toffees at the age of eight and he made his way to youth ranks at Goodison Park. He made appearances for the first team during their latest pre-season tour and even bagged a goal against Swiss side, Stade Nyonnias during a 2-1 win for Everton.

In the past two seasons, Kouyate has become a regular name on the Everton u21s team sheet, and he has tallied up eight appearances in the EFL Trophy over the past few seasons. Bluebird fans will be pleased to hear he bagged a goal from the spot against Morecambe in a penalty shootout in the 2022/2023 season.

Speaking about signing for The Bluebirds, he said: “It feels good honestly, I can’t wait to get started and I just want to kick on now and show people what I’m about.

“Honestly, I can’t thank the club enough, it’s massive for the club to show the faith and the confidence they have in me, so throughout my time here I’ll be repaying them in the best way I can."

Kouyate added: “I play anywhere across the front three but predominantly on the left or down the middle. I’m a quick and direct player who likes to take people on one versus one, I like to make things happen and I like to get myself on the scoreboard.”
