Barrow Striker, Cole Stockton Has Won League Two Goal Of The Month for February after his sensational lob against Forest Green Rovers last month.
The now 30-year-old intercepted a loose ball in the middle of the park and proceeded to quickly set himself to shoot from 35 yards out and he carefully dinked the ball over the keeper into the bottom right corner.
The Goal Of The Month winner said: “It’s always nice to be recognised and to score a goal. I know it was in a game which we were expected to win and didn’t but that’s football however, on a personal note it’s always nice to score a goal especially when it’s a good one like this.”
He added: “Pretty much as soon as I intercepted it my body shape was already facing the goal and the keeper was quite a bit off his line, so I literally just thought I was going to have a go, and worst case scenario a goal kick is given.”
This isn’t the first time Stockton has scored a goal from this kind of range in his career so when questioned about his ability to score from range, he said: “Listen, if you don’t shoot you don’t score but I’ll always back myself to score in reasonable areas and keepers nowadays are like centre-backs as they’re always quite high up the pitch anyway so I’ll always back myself.”
