On This Day: Barrow 2-2 Woking

Another blast from the past!

On the 8th April 2017 the Bluebirds welcomed Woking to the Progression Solicitors Stadium as we looked to make a late move into the Vanarama National League play off places.
An uneventful first half suddenly got interesting as the break approached when a shot from inside the area was adjudged to have been handled by Paul Turnbull on the goal line.
The visitors were awarded a penalty and Turnbull was shown a red card meaning the Bluebirds went down to ten men for the whole of the second half.
Jamie Lucas stepped up and his effort snuck past Jon Flatt to give the visitors a half time lead.

Half Time: Barrow 0-1 Woking

It took just six second half minutes for the Bluebirds to draw level as Jordan Williams sublime free kick found the top corner.
The visitors took the lead again with twenty minutes to go when Kieran Murtagh was found unmarked in the area, before curling an effort into the far corner.
As the game ticked into the final ten minutes the Bluebirds looked for an equaliser and they got one with seven minutes to go. An Alex Rae Harvey free kick was nodded down by Moussa Diarra in the area and Ritchie Bennett was on hand to bundle the ball home.
Despite a late appeal for a penalty the Bluebirds couldn’t go on to find a winner and the points were shared.
