Performance Centre Update – 23rd June

An update on all things BAFC Performance Centre!

It’s been a busy week behind the scenes for staff at our performance centre, involving three trips to Leyland for conferences and AGMs.

Keep reading for an update on what has happened including some exciting news for our reserve and U21 teams.

Barrow AFC Reserves voted into Lancashire League:

Our new reserve side (sponsored by Phil Collier Associates) were unanimously voted back into the Lancashire Reserve League on Monday evening at the Hallmark Hotel in Leyland. This is the first time in over a decade that the Bluebirds have a reserve set up.

After gaining a lot of attention from supporters last season, we can confirm that our home and pre-season games will be played in Barrow next season. Lancaster City, Workington Reds, Kendal Town, Chorley and Hyde are some of the teams competing next season.

U21s ready for 2nd season:

A ‘younger-looking’ U21 side (sponsored by Phil Collier Associates) will begin their Lancashire U21 League in mid-August and will also compete in the Lancashire U18 County Cup and LFA League Cup this season.

Home games will also be played in Barrow next season and will be open to supporters to come along and get behind the lads.

LFA Safeguarding 2020 Vision:

Liam Reid and Craig Rutherford represented the club alongside other professional and grassroots organisations at the inaugural Lancashire FA Safeguarding 2020 Vision  in Leyland.

They are looking forward to sharing the new topics and initiatives discussed  as we continue to put the safety and enjoyment of footballers in our town at the top of the agenda.

Training Kit in partnership with 17 Sport:

The performance centre has now received order forms for their training kit for next season-these will be sent to parents in due course. Samples have also arrived at the club for any players wishing to gain an idea of sizing before ordering. Keep an eye out on the performance centers social media pages for the days and times of when the club will be open for players to pop in to try on the sizes.

U11 Open Training:

All the staff enjoyed working with all the players on a successful opening evening of our U11 Open Training. The event saw 71 players from all over Cumbria and North Lancashire attend the first week, and they will be welcomed back for the final time next week. A big thanks once again to Hawcoat Park Junior Football Club for their excellent hospitality.
