We are delighted to welcome Kingsley James from Chester FC, on loan until the end of the season.
James, 25, has represented England at semi-professional level and can play in midfield or defence, joins in time for tomorrow’s Vanarama National League game at Maidstone United.
He was a man in demand last summer with National League champions Lincoln City one of the clubs linked with him, but he chose to re-sign for Chester after turning down a new contract at Macclesfield Town.
Originally from Rotherham, he started his youth career at Sheffield United where he spent 8 years in the youth system before signing a professional contract. He left Bramall Lane for Port Vale in July 2011.
He eventually made 11 appearances for Vale, with loan spells at Chasetown and Hereford United before joining the latter permanently in the summer of 2013.
After over 20 games in the 2013/14 season for Hereford he was signed for Chester by Steve Burr and scored twice in 40 appearances.
The summer of 2015 saw a move closer to home as he joined FC Halifax Town, for whom he made 36 appearances and scored 5 goals before a move back to Chesire. He joined Macclesfield Town in July 2016 for an undisclosed fee and made just short of 50 appearances for them, including an appearance in the 2017 FA Trophy final.
He signed a two year deal with Chester in June 2017, from where he joins us until the end of the season.
Welcome to Barrow, Kingsley!
