Experienced goalkeeper Paul Farman became Mark Cooper’s second signing as Barrow boss when he made a move across the county from Cumbrian rivals Carlisle United.

Farman was a regular in Carlisle’s 2020/21 campaign but turned down a new deal at Brunton Park to become a Bluebird in the summer of 2021.

The North Shields born star was on the books at Newcastle United in his youth before making a senior breakthrough at Blyth Spartans and then clinching a move to Gateshead in 2009.

Farman enjoyed three years with The Heed Army but he excelled during a loan stay at Lincoln City in 2012 and went on to make a permanent move to Sincil Bank that summer.

He made 250 appearances for The Imps, winning the Player of the Year award in 2014/15 and then starring as they won promotion back to the Football League in 2016/17 when he kept 22 clean sheets.

After six memorable years at Lincoln, he moved on to Stevenage in 2018 and played over 75 games at The Lamex Stadium before his switch to Carlisle.
