A true leader on and off the pitch, Foley made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Birkenhead outfit last season, finding the back of the net 4 times from midfield.

The former Republic of Ireland youth international brings along a wealth of experience to Holker Street, with over 450 senior appearances to his name.

Foley came through the youth ranks at Cheltenham Town, and had short spells at Kidderminster Harriers and Redditch United as a rookie. After impressing on loan at Newport County, the Welsh side were quick to snap up his services on a permanent basis.

He was ever present for Newport, and his 12 goals in 49 appearances in 2011/12 drew the attention of League One Yeovil Town, who made a move to bring him to the South West.

The powerhouse midfielder’s first season at Huish Park was a successful one, as his midfield prowess helped lead the Somerset side to promotion to the Championship.

Foley subsequently enjoyed spells at Port Vale, Northampton, St. Mirren & Motherwell before signing for Micky Mellon’s Tranmere Rovers last summer. He gathered high praise from the Tranmere boss and was a fan favourite amongst the Super White Army throughout the 2021/22 campaign.

After a season full of plaudits, Foley joined Barrow under new manager Pete Wild.
