First Team Talk Session A Big Success

20 January 2021

The Club’s very first Team Talk session took place on Friday night as we invited Barrow fans to join us for a virtual quiz hosted by Bluebirds star Sam Hird.

We launched the Team Talk scheme as part of the EFL’s campaign in conjunction with their charity partners at Mind, to help keep the conversation around mental health going throughout December and into January.

As well as that, there is a determination among those within the Football Club to ensure supporters know that we are there for them during the latest national lockdown and what has been a hard time for everyone.

The session, hosted by Community Trust Manager, Craig Rutherford, was held via Zoom and defender Hird put on a brilliant general knowledge quiz, ably assisted at times by Bluebirds teammate Josh Kay.

Over a dozen supporters joined, spending time after the quiz discussing what they would like to get out of the sessions which we are hoping to host every Friday at 7.30pm.

Another quiz is planned for this coming Friday, but other ideas included inviting the Manager and more players to talk football with the group or holding other competitions.

The main aim though is to just provide fans with a regular safe space in which they can come to keep connected and enjoy some social interaction during the tough times ahead.

If you couldn’t make last week but would like to join us this coming Friday then simply send an email to media@barrowafc.com and we’ll provide you with access.
