Barrow Fans Set For Charity Head Shave

17 January 2022

An kind-hearted group of young Barrow fans have set themselves the target of raising £5,000 through a charity head shave to support their friend in his fight against bone cancer.

Mason Kelly left his mates shocked when he told them that he had been diagnosed with advanced stage Ewing Sarcoma, a cancer affecting the youngster’s thigh bone.

Having been friends for many years and cheered on the Bluebirds from the terraces together, the group wanted to do something positive to show solidarity with Mason and find the best way to support him.

As a result, the Barrow fanatics have decided to raise money for The Bone Cancer Research Trust, which is a charity dedicated to saving lives and improving the outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer.

Mason’s chemotherapy will cause him to lose his hair so nine of his closest friends are all set to shave their heads in a bid to stand with him, whilst also raising funds for a worthwhile cause.

Devro’s Barbers have come forward to help the boys with the head shave, which will take place at Furness College on Monday 7th February.

An original fundraising target of £2,000 was shattered inside five hours and now the group have their eyes on hitting £5,000 before they don their barber’s capes!
